GREENHOUSE MINISTRIES

Inspire.

Give Hope.

Change Lives.

Greenhouse Ministries exists through local volunteers and provides relational ministries that are designed to inspire, give hope, and change lives of the individuals who enter our doors.

With over 400 volunteer hours each week, volunteers are the driving force of Greenhouse Ministries and our donors play a pivotal role as the majority of funding is through individual donations.

Greenhouse Ministries serves the whole person

Greenhouse Ministries seeks to transform those we serve and those who serve with us by focusing on spiritual, financial, physical, and emotional progress.

We partner with churches, non-profits, and individuals to fund and provide volunteer support for our mission initiatives.

By providing immediate needs of food, clothing and personal items as well as long-term needs of educational resources, health services, counseling, and career preparation, Greenhouse Ministries serves the whole person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

Greenhouse Ministries’ goal is to provide a place to help, educate and connect everyone who walks through the door. Greenhouse offers services for basic human needs.  These include providing help from our foodbank, clothing, toiletries, household items, prayer, assistance obtaining an ID/birth certificate, etc.

However, the main emphasis of the services offered at Greenhouse Ministries is the long-term help through educating and connecting our clients. We offer adult education classes, including computer skills, tutoring for the high school equivalency test, literacy tutoring, parenting, budgeting, and career advancement classes.

We also connect our clients with other resources available including job and housing opportunities as well as connecting our clients with other nonprofits who might be able to better serve their needs.

Where does Greenhouse Ministries receive it’s funding?

The majority of Greenhouse Ministries’ funding comes from individual donations (80%).  Approximately 30 churches contribute on a monthly basis (15%).  The remainder of Greenhouse Ministries’ funding (5%) comes through grants.

How do I learn more about volunteering?

Volunteers are the driving force of what happens at Greenhouse Ministries.  We have 400 volunteer hours each week and we could not survive without our volunteers!

They assist clients with their needs, teach adult education classes, provide counseling, greet clients at the front desk, clean, sort donations in the warehouse, stock the food pantry and help plan special events.  Whatever your passion, Greenhouse Ministries has a place for you!

Greenhouse Ministries provides volunteer training every second Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. at our main building (309 S. Spring Street, Murfreesboro, TN). You will learn more about who we are and the different services we provide. A tour of our facility will be given at the end of the training.

What is the Mobile Food Pantry?

In short, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee brings a semi-truck full of food donated by a sponsor to Greenhouse Ministries and we give a week’s worth of food to our clients.

Typically, Mobile Food Pantry is once a month and either falls on a Friday or a Saturday.

At the beginning of the month, we start giving out vouchers for a specific time to receive food. The times typically range from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., depending on the demand.

Mobile Food Pantry is a great volunteer opportunity as well. This event would not be possible without our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Christy at 615-494-0499.
