Event Details

Dear Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast supporter:

It is that time of year when we join with others across our nation in recognizing the National Day of Prayer. I want to thank you for your faithful support of the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast and announce a few exciting changes that we will make this year. In 2016, we had record breaking attendance at our breakfast where over 750 people came to pray for our nation and honor our emergency service providers. We were excited to continue building our momentum and immediately scheduled the event for next year. When following up with our reservation, we were informed that the dates were not available for 2017 or 2018.  Needless to say, wehad to make some adjustments on the fly.

I am pleased to announce that we will transition the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast to a Prayer Lunch Service. Honoring the tradition of prayer in our community is important. On April 17, 1952, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law in the United States. President Reagan amended the law in 1988, designating the first Thursday of May each year as the National Day of Prayer.

World Outreach Church has graciously offered to let us use their sanctuary and has offered to serve a lightlunch to everyone in attendance. Hosting the event at WOC allows us to have a larger audience and to continue to build on the momentum that we have started.

Please save the date for May 4 th from 12-1:00 PM in the Three Crosses Sanctuary at WOC.  I would like to ask our faithful table hosts to PLEASE get your same group together and bring them as you have in past years. You can still sit together and enjoy the service.  There is no charge for this event.  This is an opportunity for us to pray for our nation and thank God for the things he is doing in our cities and our country.

The Prayer Service will take place from 12:00-12:30, a light lunch will be served from 12:30-1:00. Hopefully allowing many to utilize a lunch hour to participate. Thank you for all that you do and I will see you on May 4th.

Mayor Shane McFarland
