FAQ

What services do you offer?

Greenhouse Ministries offers services for basic human needs.  These include food, clothing, furniture, household items, assistance with transportation, assistance obtaining an ID/birth certificate, etc.  However, the main emphasis of the services offered at Greenhouse Ministries is the adult education classes, including computer skills, GED tutoring, literacy tutoring, parenting, budgeting, and career advancement classes.

What do I need to do to receive services?

You need to come in during business hours and fill out a client information sheet. A counselor will then meet with you to find out what needs you have and then they will do their best to meet your needs. You don’t need to bring any paperwork with you unless you have been informed to by a staff member.

What are your hours of operation?

The Greenhouse Ministries office is open Tuesday-Friday, 9:00-4:00.  Counselors are available to meet with clients between 10:00-3:00.  Greenhouse Ministries is also open some weekends and evenings for adult education classes or special events.

Garden Patch Thrift Shoppe is open Tuesday-Thursday, 10:00-5:00, Friday, 10:00-4:00 & Saturday, 10:00-2:00.

Where are you located?

Greenhouse Ministries is located at 309 South Spring Street in downtown Murfreesboro, TN.

Where does Greenhouse Ministries receive its funding?

The majority of Greenhouse Ministries’ funding comes from individual donations (80%).  Approximately 30 churches contribute on a monthly basis (15%).  The remainder of Greenhouse Ministries’ funding (5%) comes through grants.

How does Greenhouse Ministries get food for the food pantry?

Most of the food comes from individuals who drop off food donations at our ministry site.  We have 2 annual food drives in conjunction with Moody Radio where we gain a lot of food.  Several businesses have sponsored food drives for Greenhouse Ministries, including Dollar General, Publix, and Food Lion.

In addition to individual donations, we encourage partnering churches to adopt a week to stock the food pantry through the C.A.N. 52 program.

What kind of donations can you accept?

Greenhouse Ministries needs donations of food, paper products, office products, and financial resources.

Garden Patch Thrift Shoppe needs donations of gently used clothes, shoes, accessories,  household items, furniture, and appliances.

Donations are accepted during store hours. Please don’t drop donations off at our front, back or side doors after hours.

*We are no longer accepting desks, entertainment centers, console or picture tube televisions, or older style computer monitors.  We will only accept mattress and box spring sets and not them individually. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We are having a difficult time finding a home for these items.

What kinds of things can volunteers do?

Volunteers are the driving force of what happens at Greenhouse Ministries.  Volunteers assist clients with their needs, teach adult education classes, answer phones, greet clients at the front desk, clean, sort donations in the warehouse, stock the food pantry, and help plan special events.  Whatever your passion, Greenhouse Ministries has a place for you!

How do I learn more about volunteering?

Greenhouse Ministries provides volunteer training every 2nd Tuesday of the month. It is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at our location (309 S. Spring Street, Murfreesboro, TN). You will learn more about who we are and the different services that we provide. A tour of our facility will be given at the end of the training.
